Implementing new sanitation appliances for public use

Vacuum toilets, urine-separation toilets, mini-flushing toilets, water free urinals and other special appliances are available on the market. To some extent they are already accepted, like vacuum toilets in planes or high speed trains. There is a need to gather experience on the broader use of such appliances, especially with respect to cultural particularities, as water- and sanitation-related hygiene practices may be very individual to different cultures and related to education.

A further innovative approach of the project will be to slow initiate a serious public discussion on sustainable wastewater management at home.
