"Pastoge" travellers inn is located nearby the highway Kaunas-Klaipeda in Lithuania. Sea level: 65 m. Lithuania is considered as the country of cold climate. Precipitation amount is 670 mm, average air temperature is 6.2°C. The coldest month is January (-5.1°C). Average temperatures are: in winter -4°C, in spring 5.5°C, in summer 16°C, in autumn 7°C. In winter period snow cover is 10-20 cm deep, frozen ground reaches 50-70 cm deep.
"Pastoge" is a standard travellers inn situated nearby the highway. The travellers inn contains three rooms and may provide passers-by with the accommodation and food.
In Pastoge wastewater is produced in two places: the building with café and dwelling rooms and the washroom used by passers-by. Wastewater amount fluctuates within the range of 2 to 8 m
3/d. The smallest wastewater amounts are observed in winter period, the highest rates occur in summer. Wastewater amount also depends on the day of the week. Weekends and holidays are distinct for larger amounts of wastewater compared to workdays. The initial wastewater pollution concentration before the treatment process is rather high and is changing within the range of 500 to 800 mg O
2/l according to BOD
5. This is due to cookery and economical usage of water.
At present the "Pastoge" travellers inn discharge the wastewater in a septic tank. Further the pre-treated wastewater is released into a pond used for the recreation. In order to avoid further contamination of the pond, the full-scale treatment of wastewater is needed.
