Elbterassen Wussegel

Problems to solve

The Elbterrassen Wussegel is a popular tourist cafe directly on the shore of the river Elbe. It is located in the Lower Saxony biosphere reserve „Elbtalaue“ in district Lüchow-Dannenberg. At weekends in summer are in the Elbterrassen up to 600 guests daily. The wastewater strongly fluctuates between summer and winter and within a week up to 12 m3 per day. In former times the wastewater flow into pits without drainage (5 pits). The volume of the pits was 50 m3. Every two weeks the wastewater was transported to the treatment plant of the Hitzacker municipality.
