"FISCHERHOF" RESTAURANT AND SANATORIUM, SIRNITZ, AUSTRIA

PROBLEMS TO SOLVE

Fischerhof is a restaurant, sanatorium for handicapped people and cattle farm in the Gurk valley in Karinthia, Austria. Guests mainly come on weekends when the restaurant reaches its capacity. Fischerhof has a in-house meat production from animals grown on the farm. Three permanently used single family houses and two leisure residences owned by foreigners coming a few weeks per year in winter and/or summer have to be sewered together with the main Fischerhof building.

Due to the situation in a narrow mountain valley winters are long and harsh.

Sea level:
800 m
Season:
Summer and winter is high season for the restaurant
Capacity:
60 chairs inside
20 chairs outside (extension planned)
permanent:
Wastewater production:
170 p.e. / about 26 m3/d

At present the restaurant and sanatorium discharge their wastewater in a septic tank. The overflow of this tank is infiltrated into the ground. Each of the houses have a similar wastewater installation. Drinking water comes from a spring that belongs to the owner of Fischerhof.
